Introduction
FocusKid is a Chrome Extension designed to help parents and guardians limit children's access to gaming websites and other content they consider inappropriate. We respect your privacy and designed FocusKid to operate without collecting personal data.
FocusKid does not send your browsing history, visited URLs, or personal information to external servers. The data and settings required for FocusKid to work are processed and stored locally on your device and in your browser.
Information We Collect
FocusKid does not collect personal data. In particular, FocusKid does not:
- Send browsing history to a server.
- Send visited URLs to a server.
- Collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or other identifying information.
- Collect location data.
- Collect payment information.
- Track users or their activity.
- Use Google Analytics or any other tracking tool.
- Sell user data.
- Share user data with third parties.
- Use data for advertising.
How FocusKid Works
When a website is opened or navigated to, FocusKid checks the website URL against the allow and block lists configured by the parent or guardian. This comparison takes place locally in the browser so FocusKid can apply the selected website access rules. Browsing history and visited URLs are not transmitted to FocusKid or any external server.
Local Data Storage
FocusKid stores only the settings needed for its operation, including protection status, allowed and blocked website lists, and parental preferences. These settings are stored locally using Chrome's extension storage on the user's device. FocusKid does not maintain a remote database of this information.
Chrome Permissions
FocusKid requests only the Chrome permissions needed to provide its core website-blocking features:
Data Sharing
FocusKid does not sell, rent, disclose, or share personal data, browsing history, or visited URLs with third parties. FocusKid does not use any data for advertising.
Third-Party Services
FocusKid does not use Google Analytics, advertising networks, tracking technologies, or third-party analytics services. This Privacy Policy page does not use cookies or tracking tools.
Children's Privacy
FocusKid is a tool for parents and guardians to support the management of children's website access. FocusKid does not knowingly or actively collect personal information from children. Parents and guardians remain responsible for configuring the extension and supervising children's internet use.
Data Security
Keeping operational data local reduces the exposure associated with transmitting it over the internet. FocusKid uses Chrome's extension storage to retain its settings on the user's device. Users should also maintain the security of their device, browser profile, and parental settings. No software or security measure can guarantee absolute protection.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to FocusKid or applicable requirements. Any update will be posted on this page, and the “Last Updated” date will be revised accordingly. We encourage users to review this page periodically.
